The Hyerin Woo Artist Series is a collaboration between MANA Pipe Co. and South Korean ceramic artist Hyerin Woo — a limited collection of hand-painted pipes that draw from the visual language of East Asian engraving.

Fluid brushwork. Spirit figures. Calligraphic marks. Each one fired permanently into a clean white glaze.

The Work

In the South Korean tradition of Sang-Gam, Hyerin engraves each pipe by hand, then fills the piece with toned earth applied directly to the ceramic surface before the final kiln firing. This means every mark — every brushstroke, every figure — becomes a permanent part of the piece, food-safe and built to last.

The imagery pulls from a long tradition of East Asian ink painting: expressive, gestural, and deeply intentional. The white ceramic body acts as a canvas, and the warm iron-brown pigment recalls the quiet authority of classical brush-and-ink work.

No two pipes carry the same composition. What you receive is genuinely one of a kind.

Hyerin Woo is a ceramic artist based in Texas, originally from South Korea, and a featured studio artist with MANA Pipe Co. Her work explores the intersection of everyday ritual objects and fine art — pieces that are as meaningful on a shelf as they are in the hand.
